What are your hours of operation?
Beards & Broads is open 6 days a week during the hours listed below:
Monday we are closed, but will accept and open for Events and Private Parties. We do have TV’s if you want to hold your Monday Night Football Party here!
Tue-Th 5pm-10pm
Fri/Sat 12pm-10pm
Sun 12pm-6pm
NOTE: If you have a Private Booking or Event that you’d like to have here, we WILL open any hours outside of normal operations to accomodate. Please call 540-208-7902 or visit our website to provide us the details and receive a quote.
Will someone show us how to throw an axe before we start?
Yes, we have trained AXEPERT coaches onsite at all times to walk you through the safety guidelines and then teach you how to throw the axe.
Are walk-ins allowed or do we need a reservation?
Lanes fill up quick so reservations are highly recommended. That said, Walk-Ins are ALWAYS welcome during normal business hours; you can call ahead to see how busy we are at the desired time.
For parties of 6 or more you can book a lane (2 targets all to yourselves) or multiple lanes depending on your party size. You can throw and/or book with us several ways: Walking in and asking to be put onto a lane, on our website www.beardsnbroads.com, by calling us 540-208-7902 or by submitting an event or party plan through a website.
Can we take pictures or videos?
Yes! Take as many pictures and videos you want! Be sure to tag:

Do you provide all the equipment?
Yes, we supply everything you need other than we do ask that you wear or bring closed-toe shoes to throw axes. If you are just here to hang out, listen to music or have snacks and a drink, you can be in any attire suitable for being in public.
Does Beards & Broads have a league?
Yes! Beards & Broads is an affiliated World Axe Throwing League facility. World Axe Throwing League (WATL): this is serious stuff. We will have live streaming official league play; points being submitted weekly to the WATL. If you Kick Axe, you could end up sponsored at the US Open and/or World Axe Throwing Championship. Anyone can sign up! The first official league will begin in Jan 2020! (minors under the age of 18 can compete, but need a parent/guardian signed waiver on file).
Have interest in a Corporate Team League? Let Beards & Broads staff know; plans to host this league will be announced in 2020.
Where are you located?
We are at 1971 Evelyn Byrd Ave, Suite G Harrisonburg, VA 22801. In the same complex as High Tech Salon; across the street from Robert’s Home Medical. Look for AXE THROWING in our window.

How do I book axe throwing? How far in advance?
You can make your reservation online here. We suggest making your reservation at least 1-2 weeks in advanced.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require a 7 day cancellation notice in order to receive a refund on your payment or deposit.
Can I sign a waiver online?
Yes and we encourage you to do so before you come in to throw. Simply go to our Waivers page and sign the waiver. For all minors, an adult or guardian must sign for them to throw.
How long should we plan to come for?
Our bookings are a minimum of 1hr. Anywhere from 1-2 hours will be enough to play.
What is the minimum number required to book?
We don’t require a large group in order to make a reservation, you can book a lane for just your self or more.

Do you offer military or civil servant discounts?
Yes! As a veteran-owned and operated business, we gladly provide a 10% discount to all military veterans as well as civil servants.

Do spectators have to pay?
No, the only people that have to pay are those participating in axe throwing.
Is tipping allowed?
If your Axe Coach was excellent please feel free to tip
How can I pay?
We accept all major credit cards as well as cash on site.

How do I book a private event?
You can fill out the private event request here. Private events are scheduled when the range is closed to the public. Private events require a minimum of 15 people and lasts for 2-3 hours. The cost is $35/person.

What are the axe throwing rules?
Must have the physical strength to throw safely, regardless of age.
Don’t worry we’ll go over everything before you throw your first time. If you are interested you can check out the League page for WATL standard rules.
Is there an age limit?
No, ALL AGES ARE WELCOME at Beards & Broads with a waiver signed by a parent / guardian and verified by an AXEPERT at Beards & Broads.
Ages 13 or younger must be accompanied by an adult during the throwing session. Ages 14 and over are welcome to stay without adult supervision once a waiver is on file for the year.
All players must have the strength to safely throw the axe; this is determined by both the parent/guardian and the Axe Coach present during the session.
Do I really have to wear closed toed shoes?
We require everyone who is throwing to wear closed toe shoes. This is just a safety precaution in case an axe is dropped.
Can we bring our own beer? (BYOB)
Unfortunately no. Virginia State laws regarding alcohol are very strict. We hope to be able to sell beer and wine in the near future.
Can we bring our own food?
Yes, you are more than welcome to bring your own food and snacks. Ask us about our affiliated food vendors.
Can we bring our own axes?
Yes, you can, as long as it meets WATL standards.
Can children come into the axe range?
Yes…. and as aforementioned under FAQ “Is there an age limit?”
